Martin Lake’s story alternates between the actual events that inspired his painting, and an
art historian speculating on his inspiration. To capture both parts,
a dual approach was needed. The music serves as a soundtrack for the real events that haunted Lake, while the vocals recite a condensed version of the speculation.
